Product Description

Camille Claudel was a fiery, female artist. Outspoken and stubborn, her sensual work was often too confrontational for the salons of Paris, or the laws of the state. Camille was required to adjust her nude figures to adhere to regulations regarding state commissions. Her most successful work, The Waltz, is an example of this censorship. Camille most likely depicted the figures as nudes in initial stages of the sculpture. The finished work has an added element of clothing wrapped around the female.
