Clayton Bailey: Happenings in the Circus of Life
A legend in California art, Clayton Bailey's art gives form to intuition and imagination.
His works have to do with a world of ideas, not intellectualizations -- he does not tolerate empty art. Embedded within the shocking, and satirical experiences lies hope, an expectation that the participant will "think" and realize.
He has worked with a variety of media, always remaining true to his vision and conviction. Beat/Funk/Pop/Zen is the vernacular accent within his visual language. Drawing from the likes of Bosch, Duchamp and Arneson, Bailey serves as both an alchemist and a catalyst in order to facilitate a transformation in the way the viewer understands the world.
