Lyrical Vision: The 6 Gallery 1954-1957
The 6 Gallery was established by a group of Beat artists at the California School of Fine Arts. The activities at the 6 were poorly documented, and not much has been written about the gallery. The 6 exists largely in the memories of the people who showed art there or who took part in the activities during its brief life span. This book is an exploration into the oral history of the Beat period of art in San Francisco, and serves to record the hundreds of interviews that expose an unprecedented body of information about the art, artists, and life at The 6 Gallery.
