Description: This workshop, Arthur Gonzalez begins by illustrating the pinch-coil technique and how it is the most versatile technique to use in clay sculpture. It will also comprise ideas of troubleshooting classic problems in hand building with specific procedural techniques such as, “corseting”, “chasing”, the “volcano technique”, and “bridging” as well as building upside down and inside out. Lastly, Arthur will demonstrate how to create textures with a minimal use of ceramic tools and how to understand clay as a kind of skin.
