Supporting Artists and Building Community Online

$0.00

Description: During the COVID-19 pandemic, artists have relied more than ever on the internet to connect, exchange information and build community. Join the members of this panel to hear their thoughts on how to best support artists virtually:

John Seed is a California-based arts writer, painter, curator, and retired professor. Seed is a 7th generation Californian who grew up in Westside, Los Angeles. He began making art while attending Stanford University, where he earned a BA in Studio Art and an MA in Fine and Studio Art at UC Berkeley. His books include My Art World: Recollections and Other Writings and Disrupted Realism: Paintings for a Distracted World. His writing has appeared in magazines including American Art Collector,Arts of Asia, Art Ltd., Catamaran, Harvard Magazine and International Artist.

Elina Cerla is a figurative painter interested in pushing and exploring the expressive qualities of gesture, the human form, and materials. Born in London, Cerla was brought up speaking English and French. She attained a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and a Master’s in Cultural Theory. She is the founder of “Dialogues for Artists in a Changing World”, a new series of conversations aimed at sharing ideas, rewiring collective thinking and constructing alternative visions of the future focusing on the reality of painting today.

Erika Hess is a painter who is known for her masterly use of color. She has shown her work in Prince Street Gallery in Manhattan, NY, Last Projects in Los Angles, CA, and Boston Center for the Arts in Boston, MA. Her work has been published in various publications such as Poets and Artists, Fresh Paint, and in Post-Industrial Complex, a book released by the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. She is also the host of the “I Like Your Work,” podcast.

Nicholas Wilton is an artist and the founder of “Art2Life” and “Art2Life Academy”. Nicholas studied art at the College of Creative Studies in Santa Barbara and then went on to receive his BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. In addition to gallery exhibitions and the inclusion in numerous private and corporate collections in both the United States and Europe, Wilton’s paintings have been used on the covers of the national bestseller “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, and Brene Brown’s “The Gift of Imperfection”. Recently, the US Postal Service issued a stamp featuring Wilton’s artwork.
