Stephen Kaltenbach: Alchemy of Space and Place (Softcover)

$35.00

“Instead of making beautiful objects to be seen, I try to make the eye see beauty in everything that’s about” - Stephen Kaltenbach

Throughout his lengthy career, Stephen J. Kaltenbach (1940 - ) has danced on the edge of, and even plunged deep into, the notable art movements that have captured the attention of the world. Included in a bevy of groundbreaking exhibitions, alongside a veritable “who’s who” of the mid-century American art world, Kaltenbach has run in many of the most important circles throughout his almost sixty-year career. The trendy art movements of the mid-century - Funk, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Land Art, Performance Art - they all captured his attention, one after the other. His developmental years spent in both Davis, California and New York City provided him with those critical environments for his own growth. Today, he continues to interact with each of these movements in varied degrees, but creates particularly diverse works that cannot always be easily labeled within a singular category.
